The New Carrollton Boys & Girls Clubs (NCBGC) youth wrestling team concluded their 2007 season with their participation in the Southern Maryland Junior Wrestling League’s (SMJWL’s) season-ending individual tournament at Patuxent High School on Sunday, March 11, 2007.  The SMJWL consists of teams from Calvert, St Charles, St Mary's as well as Prince George's counties with over 30 weight classes, ranging from 45lbs to 200lbs, and kids aged 5 to 14yrs old.  NCBGC had 24 wrestlers participate in the tournament.  There were six wrestlers in the championship with two champions and four runner-ups, along with four wrestlers in the consolation finals in which one place 3rd, and three placed 4th.  All ten received a trophy for their efforts.  Additionally, there were another five who fell one match short of the medal round, thus finishing top 6 in their respective weight class.  All of the wrestlers ended their season better wrestlers than they were at the beginning of the season.  Please congratulate the following: Dionte Lewis, Keion Mason (3rd), Darius Walker, Kobe Rose, Nathaniel Forschner, Braedon Domino, Edward “Tre” Alexander, Austin Jefferson, Reginald Hills (Top 6), David Cumberlander (Top 6),  Kyree Banks (2nd), Rudy Jules, Bryan Overton (2nd), Tyronne Jessie (4th), Albert Long III (Top 6), Momolu Givins, Aaron Jackson (1st), Michael Anderson (4th), Edwin Walker (2nd), Victor Olalekan (Top 6), Dimonte Cosbert (4th), Brandon Rollins (1st), Trevon Ford (2nd), and Bilal Wright (Top 6).  The motto of the NCBGC's wrestling team this past year was "Leave it on the Mat".  Each and every wrestler on the team demonstrated this motto through their efforts and ensured they were a formidable foe.  The coaching staff looks forward to yet another rewarding season beginning in mid-November 2007.
