The New Carrollton Cougars 8&under soccer team took on a tough College Park team on Saturday March 24, 2007. Goalies Gianna Morton and Maya Whaley played a great game and stopped many shots on goal. Ehren Bentley scored the Cougars first goal of the season on a penalty kick in the first half. Forwards Carlos Salmeron, Evan Bentley, Erick Mejia and Christopher Hernandez aggressively fought for the ball and gave the College Park defense something to worry about. The mid-fielders, Nila Toure, Leon Horsey and Veasna Say assisted both the forwards and the fullbacks. The fullbacks, Mikayla Morton, Julian Eubanks and Kordell Diggs gave College Park a run for their money. Although the game ended in a 4-1 loss, the New Carrollton Cougars played a phenomenal game. Please come out and support the Cougars at their next game on Saturday April 14, 2007 at Enfield Chase at 1:00pm. Check the website www.leaguelineup.com/ncc-soccer for schedules and directions.
